    Default gearbox automatic info

Hi can anyone tell me if when changing the fluid on the automatic gearbox on my vectra c cdti v6 the oil fill-up point is the rusty looking round plug ontop of the gearbox? you can just see it looking down between the engine and battery box.

yeah thats the one , you may need to take the battery and battery box off to get to it

and make sure you can undo this before draining !!!!

Did fluid drain and re-fill. 1.8 litres of cr*p came out the gearbox and it was black.
Re-filled with 3309 mobil gear oil 3.5 litres.
Car drove a lot better did about 30 miles of lovely smooth driving then got the limp home mode fault again
I am going to do 2 more drain re-fills and hopefully get all that cr*p out.
Does anyone know where the two pipes that can be used to pump the fluid out of the gearbox are??
the method of completly flushing the system.
Or has anyone done a fluid flush on the vectra auto???

The supply and return pipes run from the bottom front passenger side of the transmission - If you get under the car you can't miss them. The sooner you get the box flushed through with fresh clean ATF the better.

You can flush through the box at home yourself relatively easy – you’ll need the help of an assistant though and a few measuring jugs to catch and refill the ATF and about 12 litres of 3309 spec ATF.

    1. Jack the front of the car up as high as you can and support securely on axle stands (ensure the front wheels are clear from the road).
    2. Drain what you can out of the Oil Pan. And refill the amount you drained with fresh ATF.
    3. Remove the ATF feed pipe from the box (ATF feeding to the cooler from the box).
    4. Start the car ‘leave in P’ and let 2 litres of ATF out of the pipe. Turn off engine and Refill with 2 litres of fresh ATF
    5. Start the car engage ‘D’ and let 2 litres of ATF out of the pipe. Turn off engine and Refill with 2 litres of fresh ATF
    6. Start the car engage ‘R’ and let 2 litres of ATF out of the pipe. Turn off engine and Refill with 2 litres of fresh ATF
    7. Start the car engage ‘R’ and let 2 litres of ATF out of the pipe. Turn off engine and Refill with 2 litres of fresh ATF
    8. Repeat step 5 and just check that all ATF coming through is cherry red and clear in colour.

Great advice mate. thanks - well after two more drain re-fills the fluids still not clear red its dark but not as dark.... I have found the two pipes but cant see where you can disconnect them - they appear to be metal pipes coming from the gearbox.
    That fluids so expensive.
I have posted some pictures on fb if you would like to check out the issue...
