Default pin hole water leak in engine block !!!

vaux vec 1.9cdti 150 , had a leak , we thought it was the radiator but after fitting new one , the leak was still there then after further investigation discovered small hole just below the manifold on the front side of the engine block ( basically squirts water out like a water balloon would do with a small hole in ) , any ideas what could be done for a temp or permant fix without changing the whole engine !!!

I dont know if the engine block is aluminium or cast iron, cast iron would be easier to fix as you could sand the area clean and get a exhaust centre to put a spot weld on it, shouldnt cost more than a tenner, there are aluminium welders out there but i believe there are not many places that do it??

    just a thought!

Better of taking a picture as the waterways are not that close to the edge of the block so it's unlikey for it to have rusted that much.

Any other items above it it could be leading from?

Sounds like it could be a core plug ? easy fix if it is , these are designed to push out of the block if the engine freezes , rather than cracking the block .
Is there a circular cutout / indentation to the area from where the leak is.
The last ones I replaced were about the size of a 2p coin.

Had to replace a core plug on my old MG Maestro cost me £14.00 to have it done at the garage. But that was over 12 years ago now lol.

must back up Poves,it would be unlikely for a water way to rot but core plugs do
