Default Cyclists.... how to stop your nuts hurting?

I used to be a keen cyclist and never had a problem with ball ache (was riding BMX and dual slalom so seat hight want important). After 4 years of getting fat, I've pinched my dads old mountain bike and am cycling to work as often as possible. Problem is with the seat at the correct height, it squashes my balls! I've tried tilting the seat down a few degrees and it helps but I find I'm slipping off the front of the seat all the time! Anyone able to offer some pearls of wisdom on this one?

Padding. No way around it! I bought a gel padded seat cover and it's helped a bit.

cheers. I'm saving for a new bike as this one feels too small in every way so a seat cover as a temporary measure will have to do.

Padded shorts are the best padded saddle are a waste of time the more you ride the bike the less you will feel sore give just over a week and you should be ok if not you need a different saddle this is the hard bit to get wright there's so many different styles of saddle it took me 3 different saddle to get wright and £275 if I was you I would try a charge spoon saddle they cost about £20 to 25

Padded shorts are the place to start. You can get inserts that will go in most shorts, and you can get baggy shorts that look standard but with padding (so you dont have to have tight lycra). As mentioned saddles to make a difference. Have a look at the charge spoon saddle for a cheap comfortable saddle. The best saddles are brooks, but they require bedding in. I know will only use brooks saddles on the bikes I use for long distance rides.

Sorry just realise Ive written pretty much the same as Wayne!

As has been mentioned a good set of padded shorts that will also hold your nuts in place.
