It wont affect your ECU or throw up any errors.

K&N panel filters are usually regarded as the one for the job but you dont have to replace the paper filter if you don't want to. If you have a Halfords locally they sell K&N and will tell you which one will fit the car but it'll cost more (as with everything from halfrauds). Alternatively doing a search on the forum for 'k&n filter' or 'airbox mod' will likely bring up the part number you need to order online and save a few quid.

Assuming the airbox on your 2.2 direct is the same as the 1.9cdti the part number for k&n is 33-2848.

The think I dont like about the K@N filters is that they have an oil coating that needs re-applying. If you over do the oiling it'll coat the MAF with a fine film and ruin it. You'd be better sticking to a standard paper filter IMO.

    I did mine a while ago - see http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120651

(not for a how2, just the outcome of doing the mod)

As someone else mentioned, the mod is the same, regardless of engine.
