    Default Vectra 1.9 120 turbo lag

    Hi guys I wonder if anybody may know what my main problem could be here. My Vectra is a 1.9 8v 2006 model and is now at 50,000. Well over a year ago the EML light came on and the diagnostic was the EGR valve needed replaced. I didn't bother about it as the car was driving well. During the summer I got the car serviced with MOT and the flexi part of the front pipe had gone so full front pipe was fitted. I still hadn't bothered with the EGR valve however with new front pipe in the car was quieter and still drove well.

    Only about 1000 miles later the turbo started to kick in at around 2500 rpm. This got worse and the engine has became noisy with the turbo kicking in at 3000 rpm. I got the EGR valve replaced, the EML has went off and there is slight improvement with acceleration. When reved hard black smoke comes out the exhaust although it's done this for a few years but got worse. When I rev the car over 4000 rpm the spanner light comes on and the car really struggles with no revs where the turbo would kick in. However if I switch engine off and back on the spanner light is off and it drives the way it has been. I have also noticed the engine is noisy again and sound the same way before I got the front pipe replaced. Could the Cat be blocked or have I got an expensive problem???

    if the spanner light goes off when you restart the car then it was an intermittant fault.

    For the loss in power check your boost pipes for holes. See post #6 in this thread: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109454

    Well went out this morning and seen a hole on the rubber part of the boost pipe. I decided to put some duck tape round it for just now to trap the air. Your spot on Marky took it a drive and the car was flying turbo kicking in just when it was leaving 1500rpm. Still got the rift which sounds like it's from exhaust and the engine sounds tappety. But what a difference like a new car. Cheers.

    Thanks for your help I will get a new pipe. I knew a hole in the boost pipe would affect the turbo but not as much as it did. Thanks again Marky.
