    Default Turbo Died Then Resurrected

Hi i was driving oop norf on saturday just got onto M25 and went to overtake a car and noticed not much happening when putting my foot down, hit the throttle a few times and there was no pull whatsoever, 2 mins later engine management light comes on dash pulls off motorway and it was like the turbo wasnt kicking in car was like a real slug struggling to pull so i stopped turned engine off left it for 5 mins and started up again and all was fine, been fine ever since anyone reckon i should take it in to dealers to get it checked out! oh nearly forgot its a 1.9 cdti 150.

Looks like the car went into limp mode when the ecu detects a fault, could be anything usually a sensor somewhere. If it re-occururs get it to Vx as the fault will be stored in the ecu. I had simular fault and it was the crank sensor at fault.

The oly way to find out for sure what the issue was is to get it into the dealer before you have done 20 restarts.. it will still be a 'live' code then and more easy for them to trace..

Never knew that....... So after 20 restarts the recorded fault is effectively archived and not easy to trace.

I wonder how many other people simply thought that once the fault was logged then that was it. Is this just peculiar to VX or an industry standard?

AFAIK is just all down to how the ECU is designed..

Having worked on FFAARR too many vauxhalls, i just really know about their particular ECU's and what they do.. The Ren-nooo's that i've laid my hands on have a similar arrangement but i don't think that it has anything to do with a 'standard'..

However.. since the introduction of 'OBD' and 'CAN' compliant cars it may now be a feature of them.. i'll just have to get under the bonnet of a wider range of cars to find that one out for you..
