Hi mate, I Called John at Auto Tec and he is going to fit a second hand tech-2 cleared CIM module for me for only £80+VAT

I just need to get my hands on the right CIM that matches the ident code of the one already in there - Just a ****** getting the steering wheel off! I've removed the 4 torx screws from the back of the steering wheel spokes but still nothing seems loose and all i managed to do was remove one side of the steering wheel controls - a ****** to get back on with all the springs inside!

Do you know anywhere where I can see a guide on how to do it?

    Oh dear.

I've managed to check the CIM ident code but it's XU. Which apparently is very rare. Ive read that XR can be used aswell. But at the moment ebay dont have any of this ident.

Do you know of anywhere locally or elsewhere that has second hand parts like this?

    Hi,

ive managed to track down 3 on ebay

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-Vauxh...#ht_500wt_1180

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-V...#ht_500wt_1413

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-V...#ht_904wt_1396

Does it matter if they are not Tech 2 cleared? Or do they have to be cleared from the donor car before they can be put into my car?

    cheers

they need to be tech 2 cleared as thats the best way, i think the tech 2 can clear a used 1 but you need the car pass number from the car its been taken from but im not 100% sure on that so if i was you id stick to 1 thats been cleared the last 1 in your post says its been cleared or so they state anyways

    Hi bud,

still struggling with this problem. My car failed an MOT last week because of it.

I ordered a tech2 cleared CIM from ebay and went to the place in wishaw to get it fitted, took steering wheel off etc and realised that the CIM that is in my car has a SINGLE airbag loom connector, and the one I bought has 2 connectors.

I have been hunting high and low for a used CIM with the proper Ident and 1 airbag connector.

Do you know if there is a way to swap the connectors between the CIMs so that the one that is going to go into my car has a 1 loom airbag connector instead of double loom?

I cant afford to buy a brand new CIM or else I wouldve just got it fitted by now!

    cheers.
