    Question were is the drain plug on a af23 early auto box

    need to change the oil in my auto triptronic gearbox its a 2.2dti elite 2002 , have looked all over and cant seem to come across it anywere if anybody has a picture of were it is i would be totally greatfull

    anyone ? really need the answer to this one got split pipe coming off oilcooler in front of the radator about 2 ltrs of oil come out , and now got a 2 hour bus ride to work each way / each day till fixed

    Not sure if itís the same on the AF23 but on the AF33 it is on the passengerís side of the autobox. Itís on the side of the box (at the lowest point) and not in the bottom and is a nut about 15-17mm big.
    If your ATF is burnt (black & smelly) though, you need to ensure you change the whole amount (approx 7-8 litres), by flushing the box through. Draining just whatís in the Pan will only get rid of half the ATF. The other half will remain in the Torque Converter and will mix with the fresh ATF meaning the ATF is still not fit for purpose.
