Should I buy Insignia or Octavia?

So the vec is going the journey soon and not sure whether to buy an Insignia 2.0cdti sri or an Octavia VRS 2.0 diesel. I could afford to buy a nearly new/used insignia as the prices seem very reasonable but i also have the option of leasing. I have had a good quote for leasing the Octavia VRS but probably not be able to stretch to buying this. So I suppose my question is two fold. Buy or lease? Insignia or Octavia???mmmmm

How much is the Insignia a step up from the vectra. Mine is 1.9cdti (150) and I do like it but have had loads of the usual issues (inlet manifold, EGR valve, snapped springs, glow plugs etc) Does the 2.0 cdti on the Insignia have any known issues. Is it best to go for the 130 or 160 etc...

Then there is the Octavia. VRS looks good and cracking reliability and build quality. i am drawn to the lease scheme through work as it is a really good price and ll I pay for is fuel.........decisions decisions

if it was me as for buying it would be the octavia and i'm not sure how leasing works but it would still be the octavia if the finances worked out well

A big part of me wants to lease and would probably go for the Octavia if I went down this route. However I am still very drawn to the Insignia and would either lease or buy if I went for this. There is the age old thing....you never own your car when you lease. I think the Insignia looks better as opposed to the VRS which maybe looks a bit boxy. I also lurrve the Insignia's interior

Yep that is the next logical step fella. Got loads on at the minute but going to set a day aside and see if I can test drive them both back to back

Does the 2.0cdti in the insignia suffer from the same lag as the 1.9cdti?? Mine is crap below 1800rpm

my mates seems to pull from 1500rpm but my 1.9cdti would still pull away from his car quite rapidly really used to pee him off cos he always bragged about his 160bhp but couldnt seem to understand that his insignia weighs about a ton more then my vec lol

Don't know about the Insignia, but when I first had my 1.9 it had lag. Did the airbox mod, fitted a K&N, and silicon vacuum pipes - no lag.
I'm not a fan of leasing either, which is why mine's on motobility finance not contract hire. Dealers keep telling me I'm going about it all wrong.

I think these are two completely different cars. If I was meant to choose, I'd choose Insignia. It will be more expensive of course but remeber that Insignia is a midsize-class car, Octavia is still a compact. You'll notice this when you drive it, take a look at the finishing quality.

Octavia every time...better looking, better mpg, better residuals....list goes on and on..
