    Default Fumes

Had this for a wee while now, When I start the engine I get the smell of diesel fumes in to the cabin. If i open the bonnet, towards the cab I can smell it really strongly with the engine running, Is this normal? I've checked the exhaust and can't see of hear any holes, its recently had a new egr, the swirl flaps rod is still connected but theres a lot of soot and oil around the passenger side most one so I'll need to look at getting that done at some point i guess

Fuel filter? They can leak and they are mounted on the bulkhead between engine bay and cabin. Swirl flaps even if completely broken wouldn't allow diesel fumes tbh so I woudn't be too concerned with that.

If exhaust fumes the flexi may have gone - again common. A custom exhaust place should sort that out for about £80.

I've had a look under the car and can't see anything with the flex but I did have that thought aswell. I'll nip in to one of the local places and see if they can have a look at it

No probs if you cant see any leaks (usually diesel ones sit on the manifold swirl bar area or the fuel filter is to blame).

With a split flexi you can sometimes see the fumes pass from under the car at the drivers door.

    Hope you get it sorted.

There is some gunk around the swirl bar, but it looks more oily and sooty. I'm guessing it must be the flexi, An excuse to get a custom dual exit exhaust without getting grief from the mrs

If anyone is considering replacing their flexy try www.onlineautomotive.com I got a complete front pipe from them for my 06 CDTI for less than 70 quid delivered.
Thought it might be a mare to fit but GM, bless em, have used brass nuts on the pipes and it popped off in no time with no snapped studs or any other problems.

It sure is nice to sit stationary in traffic and not get gassed!!
