Default Would you trust the dealer with this....

Took it in for a injector seal. Got a quote for 1 seal replacement at £99. 10 mins later a callback saying 2 have to come out....at £179.

    I thought here we go!!

Left the car and went for a walk around. Got a call saying there was a problem could i pop in.

Went in and got a whole list of things that they reckon need doing.

The front tyres were new at the end of June so are only 3 months on!!

There is no knocking from the front AT ALL and the car feels very safe and sound.

I think they are trying it on TBH.

What do YOU think? Should i take their word for it? Am gonnna replace the rear brakes myself and possibly the drop links. Might even tackle the front coil springs.

Just so shocked that a £99 job has suddenly morphed into a £1900 job!

    Are they Halfords in disguise????

Get them to show you the work that needs doing on the car and why it needs doing. Especially the tyre which apparently has 0mm tread on the inside...

I dont trust any VX dealer after being told i needed my timing chain replaced and two rear shocks needed replacing - £1000 or above I forget now.

What was wrong? The wastegate on my turbo was loose and I changed all 4 springs two weeks later for eibachs, and then sold the 4 springs on here. None of them were broken!!!

If its not had a cambelt kit change at 100k miles then that is highly recomended to be changed.

If the injector seals are leaking i would look to replace them.

If one coil spring is broken then ideally the pair do need replaced, thats an MOT failure.

Top your engine oil upto the max line yourself.

The rear right O/S/R tyre will need changed soon as 1.6mm is the legel minimum assuming 0mm on the edge is incorrect. Again would be an MOT fail.

If your happy theres no knocking or play in the steering then dont worry about that but if its excessive it will fail its next MOT.

The oil i will defo do. Was thinking about changing anyway.

The drop links are ordered, as are the springs and brake pads.

Am i right in thinking that there is only one spring that needs changing at the front? The spring that the strut goes through? Might as well change both of them too as they are only £28.

There is no knocking at the front at all and i thought if a spring had snapped, firstly we would of heard/felt it, and secondly that the car would feel awful on cornering.

Cheers for the advice though guys! Nearly had a heart attack when they said £1900!!!

When i took mine in for the handbrake recall they gave me a list of jobs needing doing. One was a broken rear spring... Fair enough but i got a set of 4 eibachs for less than they wanted for 2 standard rear springs... Then i took the rest of the list to the garage I use that i know and trust and low and behind the rest of the things were absolute pish...

Cant remember what they were now as this was 2 years ago but it was also a hefty cost! Robbing beggars... I just put it down to them having to do the recall at their cost so wanted to make some money out of me another way

Just good practise to change them both.

Most of the time you wont know if its broken as its usually right at the bottom or top of the coil.

They wont cover any faults that are already present i think you have a certain period of time before you can make a claim. Most of the stuff you have listed is wear and tear and probably would'nt be covered anyway.
Are you going to get your cambelt done as over 100k miles is pushing it and no point spending money fixing replacing bits and bobs if you have a serious failure 6 months down the line.
