    Default tyre size

    has anyone ever heard of anyone sticking 215/55/16 on wheels that should have 215/50/17 . if so what will it do and would this make my insurance invaild if i dont tell them .

    would never get 16" tyres on a 17" rim mate.

    would rip the tyre trying to fit it

    You cant put 16" tyres on wheels that are designed for 17" tyres. You can change to tyres that are a different size but still 17" which will be cheaper and will have more availability someone should hopefully come along and tell you these sizes.

    You will have to keep the 2 front tyres the same size and also on the back axle the same size on each side you cant mix and match.

    but you will get 215/55/r17's on? and still have clearance

    i dont think you understand . i have checked the rim is 17" in diameter but the tyres say 215/55/16 on them and i have checked they should be 215/50/17

    it has to be a error on the tyre can you post pics up of the wheel and tyre showing this

    well if its a error all 4 got it and they got put on in different places 2 fronts by kwik fit and backs by a garage

    I think you'll find that 16" rims have a 17" diameter and 17" rims have a 18.25" diameter, so you have 17" rims (for 16" tyres). Therefore the tyres are correct at 16".

    Here's a picture of 17" tyres on a 18.25" rim..

    if its a 16" tyre on it, its a 16" rim.

    wont work any other way mate.

    so why is it when i typew on tyre shopper my reg they come back saying the it should be 215/50/17
