U need to bleed it mate or fill the filter with diesel
Fill up the filter with diesel or 2 stroke oil then start cranking it over. Crank for 15 seconds or so at most each time. If it doesn't start after a couple of goes, give it a few minutes for the starter to cool down. Once it starts to go, put your foot down on the accelerator to drag fuel through so it doesn't cut out. It will eventually kick into life but the fuel systems don't self prime on the DTi's.
beware that running a vauxhall diesel fuel pump with no diesel can kill it
hi guys i have just had ago filled the filter up 3 times it kicked into life a little bit then died on all 3 times now will even try to start leave tonight getting to dark and dont want to flatten batt: any more help please regards maurice:
If the battery starts to get weak, get another car on it. Mine was a right sod to start afterwards and the battery started to go so hooked another car up to it, gave the other car a few revs and held them up then tried to start mine. As soon as it started to cough foot went hard down on the accelerator. Once it started, kept the revs up to pull the fuel through. Just keep the filter housing full of diesel and you'll be sorted, eventually!
put a rope on and tow start it in 3rd gear or slacken the 1st 2 injector pipes crank it a bit then tighten 1 up then crank it again then tighten the 2nd up
well went to vectra this morning filled the filter up with fresh derv tried to start just turning over and over no idea what to do next apart from get a recovery garage in to have a look sick???
If the battery is dead and there isn't anyone around to jump it with, a tow start is the only other option. Get the car onto the road, hook the tow rope up, turn the ignition on and let the car in front begin to tow. Once the rope is tight and you've picked up some speed, put it into 2nd gear (about 15mph) and let the engine catch. Let the clutch out slowly and believe me you'll know when the engine engages with the wheels. Keep pulling, put the clutch in and give it some revs to keep the engine turning over. Once you're sure it has started, pull over and leave it running. Get the rope off and go for a quick drive to get any air out of the system. Mine took a couple of goes to tow start.
well i had my vectra picked up by greenflag and taken to there garage for a scan and check over. They rang me next day and said the EGR SOLENOID was at fault from scan so i said go ahead with repair what a shock when i got the bill for £300 they said it is ok now ok great.
i took the car run very well no probs the next day it started again, spanner light came on on put into slow mode turned ing off and restarted no prbs but when i was at 60 miles an hour in 4th i put my foot down it came on again i tried it about 6/7 times with the same thing happening it seems ok to go through the gears with out flooring it speeds of 70 plus but soon has i floor it happens again ????? any feed on the prob guys please i am worried if i take it back to garage the will give me another big bill cheers maurice
