    Question does any1 have a gas strut to hold up their bonnet insted of metal arm

    after some info, does any1 have a "gas strut" to hold up their bonnet insted of the metal arm, if so, any chance of a pic of where it secures onto please...
    have seen one on fleece-bay and was wondering if it wud fit/work ok..

    If you got a face lift then no you can't fit them because the bonnet is made of alloy and it would twist it

    As said above. As soon as you go to shut the bonnet after fitting it, you'll fold your bonnet in half

    As above Micky, the fixings arent there to do although it could be bolted on and fixings spot welded if necessary. But the struts are soo powerful being on one side only it would flex and twist the bonnet as soon as you use it. You can lift a facelift bonnet when its off the car with just one finger, shows you how light it is...

    oooo... I feel a need to be smug ... my lovely and wonderful pre-facelift GSi has not one but TWO gas struts holding up the bonnet


    .... I just knew pre-faces were better

    ive only 1 on my GSi.

    does that mean my ptw ratio is better than yours haha

    Technically, yes .... but it also means your GSi is faulty until you fit the missing strut
