Default bulge on rear tyres...egg shaped??

MOT yesterday...nail in tyre...been to local tyre place today..nail in one and screw in the other. Then he went on to tell me that the rears had a bulge on the tread and sounded like they were effectively egg shaped and worn on the inside. They have droned for months now and have had this before as my tyres have worn unevenly and has stopped with new tyres. I have never been told that the tyres have been mis-shaped though. I looked through the threads and found that this irregular shape is fairly common and due to the suspension set up. The tyre bloke said he had a few like this on the vectras and he recommended new tyres.
Thinking now...are these mis shaped tyres really dangerous? Should I change for new or just get punctures repaired (about 5mm left). They must have been this shape for months now

yes change them. it will seriously affect their reliability as well as vehicle characteristics. I'd recommend getting a geometry set-up aswell and this may resolve it in future. Get all your bushes etc checked aswell

I have had the car over 4 years now and will be changing the car next June. I am trying my best not to spend too much on it because of this. I have thought about the geometry check before but will not be getting it done now (cheers for advice though)' Just wanted to know if the tyres were really dangerous in this state or is it just a case of them droning on

you can get it done for £40, its not a massive amount, you could end up going through another set of tyres prior to then if its that bad. Failing that tho, you could always just put a set of budgets on to get you through

Thought it cost loads more than that to be honest as i had 4 wheel laser alignment done and it cost about £40. With all the adjustments/measurements I was sure it was nearer £100

Last one I had done was on a hunter equipment thing, cost £38, got a before and after printout etc Was definitly worthwhile even though i had to travel 60miles to get it done! Unless you're using the wrong load rated tyres then there must be something with the set-up. Maybe someone nearby could have a look if you don't do your own work

Ouch thats alot. Maybe phone around a little bit. The guy I use is a specialist in alignment. He takes no more than 1 hour to do it, but always does a cracking job, Most of the guys up here that have track cars use him aswell
