Auto gear selector removal

Hi there,

Really stupid one here....

How do you remove the gear selector knob (or assembly) in order to gain access to the slot where the the gear selector slides up and down?

I keep change in the ashtray, this morning a coin slid out, under the gear selector fascia and into the slot below, and has jammed in the slot - can only select Drive and and Neutral at the moment! Popped open the fascia and unclipped the plastic surround, but can't raise the surround enough to get in there as the selector stick has some plastic round it stopping the surround from sliding up the stick.

Any help much appreciated!!

exactly this happened to me this morning!!! sat in work car park, couldnt select Park so couldnt take the key out of the ignition. great. i took the plastic surround off then popped off the cover that has P, R, N, D etc breaking a could of the clips in the process. couldnt see the coin but eventually it must have moved as all of a sudden i got it in Park. Now behaving as normal.

So I need to a) find the coin - as i dont like the idea of it being there and b) replace the the cover that now has broken clips and doesnt support the little plastic roller gaiter thing.

Help!
