Jeep Cherokee 1996 any thoughts??

Hi folks thought no better place than here to ask. A guy at my apartment block is selling this Jeep Cherokee 2.5 petrol 1996 with 93k on the clock for about £400. Its not his first car and I've helped him with a few bits in the past with it so I kinda know it. I'm going to get it for my Dad as a run around up the bog hills when he's working with the Turf. Pics below, anything I should be looking out for?

Its cheap but there prone to rust and rot on the sills the boot and pretty much everywhere...
Not cheap to run and parts can be expensive ...

I have had 3 Cherokee's in the past ..........And they are great cars BUT the biggest failure point on them is the rear axle as most come with an LSD and people put wrong oil in it so if it's making any noises at all from the axle DO NOT BUY IT !!!!!!

Other than that just the usual checks make sure all electrics work and she stops and steers in a straight line and you should be ok !!!! HTH

I had it out for a wee spin the other night. Seems very solid and no strange noises. It's not going to be used on the road so I'll get it anyway. Checked body work all round and looks in pretty good shape.

chassis around the rear arch area can rott like hell , virtually rebuilt the back end for one of our customers and it looked very tidy , parts are expensive but if its not goin to see the road , get it bought ! should be great for busing about off road
