    Default Fitting headlamp bulbs

    Right then...

I have seen all the various threads about people replacing their main beam bulbs, etc, and after realising how dismal my standard ones are, have decided to replace mine. (main and side lights)

The question is, how exactly do you replace them? i.e. I read the How2 on headlamp replacement/removal, but cannot recall seeing anythng about just bulb replacement. Do I need to follow the same procedure??? (This is where I need the non-existant Haynes manual...)

Sorry if this question sounds too basic.

Any advise/assistance would be gratefully appreciated...

Its dead easy m8 the passenger side you unclip the water bottle neck wiggle it from side to side & pull at the same time to remove. The main bean there's a rubber cover remove this then twist & pull the block. unclip the loom block from the bulb & there's a plate. fit the new bulb on the plate, plug the loom back in & fit unit back in. High beam there's a plastic cover to the left undo this & remove & refit the new bulb the same as the main beam. The side light bulb is located just below the high beam all you do there is twist & pull.

The driver side is the tricky one because of the airbox. but its all done the same way you just hav'nt got that much space to move about.

I took the airbox out and completed the job in about half an hour mate ... removing the airbox gave me loads of room to see exactly how the bulbs come out and go back in and therefore made the passenger side easier with the tight space.

This was my thread when I did mine: http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=13230

    Cheers again guys...

Am starting to wonder if it would be easier buying the bulbs, and asking my local non VX garage down the road to fit them for me...

I have have a habit of turning a five minute job into a nightmare! At least I'm honest....

For sure I know I would happily do this for you ... just give willing attendees prior warning so they know to bring Torx Drivers (or bring your own )

    Good idea that Mark, thanks.

Problem is tho...and I hate to admit it...I nearly had an accident on the way home from Luton the other weekend due to my poor lighting. That's what identified the major shortcomings of my current bulbs. To be honest, am not sure if I can wait until the next time I can make a club get-together...especially as Winter is coming.

I reckon this VX has got the worst headlight quality out of the five I've have to date...

I will get them done this weekend...

    Cheers again.
