Exclamation Vectra "B" Lacking power on take off.

I know this forum deals with the "C" model but I've got a friend who's 2.0 L "B" model is giving him problems. It's a standard diesel,(non turbo),and recently there's been no power when he pulls away from the traffic lights.I's fine once it gets up to speed but sluggish at lower revs. It's just been in for a service but the garage say there's nothing wrong that they can find.He says that the EML is on.Now,although I have a code reader,a U480,I don't think it will read his ECU as it's an early model "B".Can anyone give me advice on what I should be looking at?.My thanks in advance. FELIXX.

Im pretty sure they have, I remember my brother used to have a Di too and I got him to check his too. Usual place for the B, right side of the battery and a couple by the bulkhead-just below the brake fluid pot.

Come to think of it,when I rang him up after he'd left a message,I did talk to his wife,so the chances are that she's given me the wrong info,(I'm not being sexist you understand,it's just that lot's of women don't seem to be mechanically minded !!!.). FELIXX.

Vacuum pipes would affect the automatic advance/retard, would make sense. If you change them fit silicon ones.

I had the same issue with my old B 2.2 DTI, on take off the EML would come on, once the revs were up to approx 2.5k, it would fly, but then back at the lights it was the same again. Split pipes, changed and all was well again.
