Default New Starter Motor - Hieroglyphic Instruction Sheet

I just bought a brand new genuine Vauxhall Starter Motor from Perrys of Aylesbury via Car Part Connexions. It was only £45 discounted down from £150 odd so I was well chuffed.

On opening the box however I've found a rather odd multilingual instruction sheet accompanying the new starter. I've stared at it for half an hour but i'm still non the wiser. It looks like in certain cases i'm supposed to change the ignition switch too - but that's just a guess on my part!

Are there any VX mechanics who can help? I'm completely baffled!

Here's the instruction sheet, even if you can't help the mere thought that Vauxhall have seriously expected their customers to decipher this is worth a laugh! ...

It's simple, from the picture, you look at the old starter, then the new one... then throw your ignition keys in the bin... and the job is done

    Sorry!

Yes I was coming to that conclusion PaddyVectra - lets hope it's not blue then!

I'd be grateful if anyone has more info on this - assuming it is a 'blue axle' on the old starter do I 'really' need to change the ignition switch or is this just a case of Vauxhall being Vauxhall!

I was going to look at my TIS programme to see if there was more info but can't get it to work since I upgraded my PC to Windows 7.

Well I just changed the starter and the old one didn't have a 'blue axle' thank god so that was OK!

Car back on road so i'm happy - as ever thanks for the replies and help.

Job itself wasn't too bad at all despite the starter being behind the engine. I put the car onto ramps rather than jacking it up which gave me more room to work. I also removed the intake manifold support bracket and removed the nearby oxygen sensor connector which only took a minute and again gave me much more room to reach the top bolt on the starter.

Again despite the daft instruction leaflet I was pleased with the price for a genuine vauxhall unit (bosch). One or two dealers are selling these starters at knock down prices via the Car Part Connexions site at the moment - worth a look if yours is playing up.
