I had an issue with a temp needle on Astra-G some time ago, I knocked it out of place when I was putting chrome rings on, that too didnt read properly.
Someone on another forum said to do this.....

Take needle off, put the cars ignition on, wait until all needles settle to correct place, place needle back on where it should actually be, turn ignition off.....and it should be good.

As said, it did the trick on the Astra-G.

Try at your own risk though.

    Good luck.
