Exclamation Vectra c cim module & tech 2 help needed urgently

I have recently bought a 2002 1.8 Vectra C elite. When i bought the vehicle, the seller advised me that now and again you would have to lock and unlock the car a few times in the morning to get it to start. I presumed this would be a simple problem to fix, as the seller said he had not even tried to fix it.
Anyhow, this is the situation im now in. The car refuses to start when left overnight, i just get a click from the relay in the glovebox, and the car symbol with the spanner through it flashes. If i sit there and lock unlock and keep trying to start the car it does eventually go. Ive done my research and got this down to being a faulty cim unit. Ive tried replacing the fuses in the boot and in the dash, had a brand new key done and coded, to no avail. So now i need a cim unit if anyone has a tech 2 cleared on with xr or xu ident code?. The ident code on my cim unit is xu, which apparently is rare. Ive heard that a unit with the xr code will work, can anybody confirm if this is true? Also, would anybody local to manchester be willing to tech 2 this part in for me (for a fee of course) if i can find it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is my only form of transport, and i cannot afford near to 500 quid to have vauxhall dealer sort it out.

Got a very similar problem at the moment with my 02 2.0 DTI. However, my problem includes the "Dash Heart Attack" when all the dials hit zero and battery, ABS and traction control light all come on. Then the dials spring to life again.

I have been hanging out for a tech 2 cleared one on the bay. I have had a quote locally for a reprogram of a CIM supplied by myself for £75 + VAT.

However, before going ahead and buying a CIM on the bay, I have contacted the local dealer for a quote on Field Remedy No. 1537. If you have a copy of TIS2000, its document no E0001537.

It relates to a problem with the ABS pump connector having loose connections internally.

I will post back tomorrow with what they say/quote.

Local steelers have quoted £201.77 for field remedy 1537. Its only wiring in a new connector!

    Extortionate!
