    Default Looking Tired...

I was talking about the VXR the other night and what to do next with it.

Over the past four and a half years its done 37,000 miles. Gone round Silverstone, Castle Combe, Stratford Raceway, Nurburgring and Santa Pod. Its done long autobahn high speed sprints and been taken apart by Courtenay Sport and put back together again.

Although I think its in pretty good condition, its looking a bit tired at the front end. Stone chips mainly. Stone chips on the bumper, the grills, fog lights, windscreen, side skirts, wheel arch liners.

So I'm thinking beginning of next year I might give it a respray on the front end... bonnet, wings, side skirts, front bumper. Renew the grills and fog lights etc. Also give the alloys a refurb in High Power Silver at Team Dynamics.

Get it back to looking MINT and brand new.

    What do you think?

I have a feeling you're not alone. Mine looks like I've driven through a sandblaster.

    Cant avoid it unfortunately.

When I had my Fiat 500 delivered nearly 2 years ago now ... I'd had it for TWO WEEKS, BRAND NEW... and a ****** stone chip the size of my little finger nail appeared on the bonnet. Only 2 weeks, gutted.

So now I just accept its going to happen. But after nearly 5 years I think its due for a respray. But one part of me says leave it with the stone chips because all the paint is still original, regardless of condition,

    ???

I had the front bumper changed for an SRI one in April and had the lower spitter fitted and painted at the same time. Because it's fiber glass it's taken a beating with chips.

I would consider getting a detailer to have a look at just covering the stone chips/imperfections with paint and flattening them back as a respray could lead to a colour mismatch that looks worse then it is at present.

Just be very careful with who you choose to complete a respray.

This is the sort of thing I mean -

Mine when I first saw it. It was only visible in direct, bright sunlight, but the selling dealer has put it right.
