Profile shows a 1.9L so most likely a 1.9 CDTI

Excessive smoke can be normal after long periods of driving at low revs and the same speed
Personally I like it and find it useful to get someone from getting too near to the rear of my car, cough, cough, cough

And depending on it being a 120 or a 150 there is a difference of swirl bar failure and inlet manifolds. If its a 120 it could be the EGR valve. Do you see where im coming from?

Its easier to help and make suggestions if you know what engine the OP has.
