confused no power at low revs

How you doin, as this is my first 1.9 diesel, i dont really know if its ment to like this, at just over 1000rpm there seems to be no power until i get to about 16:confused, i was in 3rd coming off a roundabout and there was no power exiting it, do i need to have my revs up all the time or is this the start of an egr problem, does anyone have any ideas?

Check if swirl bar still attached.

Check all vac pipes for splits.

    Clean EGR valve.

I wouldn't expect any power at such low revs, would really need to be in a lower gear

Even on mine which has now seen over 240bhp on two rolling roads and can beat a remapped 530d on the road, below 1500rpm it's got nothing to offer.

If you have no power pulling away check your vac holes at the front of the engine check very carefully under elbow as they are prone to cracking . This will cause loss of power.

    Commonly known as turbo lag.

At low revs there will be no power. You need to get the revs up a bit higher to get the turbo spinning. ie, change down a gear.

The following example is a petrol engine, but it should give you some idea about turbo lag. Start viewing from appros 50 secs in.
