Siemens NCDC 2013 changer problem

Hi Everyone, I have a Siemens NCDC 2013 fitted to my Vectra. The 4 change unit has started to say that there are errors on the CDs when it tries to play them. Sometimes it will play the same CDs without complaining, so I think it is the unit rather than the CDs. I wanted to try to clean the laser, to see if that is the cause of the problem. Is it possible to clean the laser in these with a cotton bud without taking the unit out of the car? Do laser cleaning disks work? Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be something else?

It will be necessary to take the headunit out...

You do have the car pass don't you, with the codes for the head unit.?

I had an issue with a CD70... I had to take the CD drive out of the main casing, then manually wind the laser sledge out enough, so that I could access the laser lens with a DRY cotton bud.
Then reassemble, ensuring that all the damper "balloons" are correctly located, as these act as the suspension for the cd drive. (or loader as they are often called)
Get it wrong, and the disk will skip when you drive over the slightest uneven road surface.

Mine has worked perfectly now for about two years since.

I would like to avoid taking the unit out if I can. Has anyone used a cleaning CD in a CD with a changer cartridge? Thanks, Robert

You could try a cd cleaner but these units are notorious for lens failure due to playing cheap cd media

ihad the same problem with my cd2013...
which cd player is giving the problem? mine was the top one ie the sat nav drive and i can advise on this one..cd lens cleaners are not up to the job. i cleaned mine with acetone on an earbud...nicotene from cigarette amoke normally is the cause for lenses getting smoggy..

It's the bottom one with the 4 cd cartridge.
