Default Uneven Wear On Rear Brakes

They have worn the passenger side out to the metal (and destroyed the disc ) but drivers side has a good 30% left?!

What would cause this?! Got the pad and disc set from Vxl but was up to £91.80.

Just a PITA that we are off to Aberdeen tonight and wont be back until late tomorrow so will have to use the wife's car for work and get a garage to change them on Monday.

Stuck slides more than likely are to blame for the uneven wear.

Is it the original discs and pads?
If so, then 5 years is excellent and outstanding

Uneven wear on the rears is very common, due to the Traction Control
I have never had a set wear evenly on the rear, where Traction Control is fitted, and it is even worse on the 3.0 V6 CDTI due to the ESP-plus

However, if you have regularly been checking the wear and it has suddenly become uneven then it would suggest a sticking or worn caliper, or seized handbrake cable

On my previous Mondeo the uneven wear was traced to the handbrake cable, the warranty paid for a new rear calipers, handbrake cable and assembly, and new pads and discs
I also had two sets of pads and discs refunded to me, confirmed as excessively worn due to a manufacturing fault

Back passenger and front drivers seem to have more wear and more dust than the others?

What could cause that brake circuit to wear more?

Verdict: Caliper. ot the replacement for £60 but the garage was checking the braking pressure and a metal brake pipe (one above the fuel tank?) burst so got to get that fixed now too.

And before any assumptions are thrown around, I 100% trust the mechanic doing the work, he has been a family friend for a good number of years and would not just make stuff up!

So, new rear pads, discs, NSR caliper and some new brake lines. Hope the bill is not TOO big!
