Default Anyone mapped their own Vectra? Is it possible?

Just curious, I now have a CDTi 150, and would like to get it re-mapped.

Previously I had an Astra Coupe turbo and I bought a KWP2000 and a stage one map which was originally from a well known tuner but I didn't buy it direct from them. Then I mapped my own ECU with the KWP, cost me a total of about £45, just wondering if anyone has done the same on the Veccies and what tool etc they used? Also where they got the map.

Not sure if my KWP listed the Veccie as a motor it would work with or not!

I never have, but that's more to do with me not having the knowledge to recover something if it all went wrong.

Wouldn't hesitate if I knew I could set a "restore" point or summat....

Well on my Astra when I did it I took a copy of the standard map before I changed it so I could revert it if needed. The only thing I was really warned you need ot be careful of is the battery going flat during the re-map process, as if it fails part way through then it can brick the ECU.

Mine was fine though, took it for a 30 min drive first to make sure everything was well charged and had no issues at all, some people put jumpers on and have a running car connected for safety but otherwise shouldn;t really be any issue.

That was a slightly older car though, so not sure if there is more security etc built into the ECU's on newer cars. My Astra was an 04 and my Vectra is a 56, so may be different.

Just curious if anyone had done it really!

Yes you can remap yours with kwp2000 and I think galletto too... though I'd backup your std map first and make sure you get a decent map..maybe copy one off a proven car.

Like you say..put jumpers on and they also recommend pulling the fuse for the cooling fan incase it kicks in and causes a voltage drop.

Cool, so now I just need to find someone with a standard stage 1 type map!!! lol. Better than paying silly money to a lot of these companies who just throw a generic map on!

Don't mind paying if they are genuinely mapping to spec, but otherwise why pay silly money for a DTUK box etc when you could probably get a much safer generic map and do it yourself for much less. Assuming you can find a map that is!! lol

Have a look on www.chiptuners.org forums. Might be able to get something there. Good luck!
