    Default alloys refurb

    just wondering if it is really worth refurbing my alloys myself as i dont want to make a dogs dinner out of it , any tips from you guys , and has anyone touched up there alloys with star silver and can you see the difference pictures would help me loads.

    i`ve just touched up my alloys with star silver paint if you just carefully dab the paint in and build it up filling the scrape they dont look too bad they are not perfect but better than what they where

    I haven't done any myself, but there are a few videos on youtube guiding you through the process if you havent't seen already

    I did mine using the How To, first time I've tried doing wheels, fairly happy with result. Just take your time, do it right and make sure you're 110% happy with the finish before you start spraying.

    I sprayed mine after rubbing down, priming, spraying Vauxhall star silver from Halfords and lacquer , looks alright but problems will start when having tyres changed , I dont think no matter how careful fitters are the paint is going to lift.
    I had locking wheel nut problem which I removed with Blue point locking bolt remover and it knacked the paint around bolt hole.
    To be honest once I had factored in all materials for diy job and my time in doing it I wouldnt do it again .
    Next time I am going down the powder coat route with tyre off , much more durable finish that will last and price difference between diy and powder coat isnt much more .
