Default Vectra 2008 1.8vvt fuel consumption

My previous car was a 1.6 focus silver ltd etd and using the car around town returned about 30mpg. Was pleasantly surprised with the vectra as it was doing aprrox 33mpg in the same driving conditions and I expected maybe only 28mpg. Took car up to northumberland from teesside for a weeks holiday where most of the driving was on 60mph roads and narrow back roads. Alot of the roads were hilly as we were visting in and around the cheviots as well as the likes of Berwick,Bambrugh, Seahouse etc.
Total round trip was 497.5 miles and according to trip computer I returned 43.9mpg which I was quite impressed with. When i filled up tank took 49.95 litres which was actually a return of 45.5mpg.

That's not bad m8. These cars in general seem to all return decent fuel consumption on a good long steady run

And the BC lies a bit, so as you've done, it pays to do a 'proper' check - mine tends to sya I've used about a gallon more over a tank than I really have

My BC lies as well. After a run to Newcastle and back BC was reading 42.3, but when filled at and calculated the old fashioned way it came to 43.5, rather it under calculated than over though

I would trust the BC over the pump clicking out because the tanks "full" anyday.

OK , the best i've had is 510 miles to the tank, BC at times was reading 55 mpg, this was a week we spent in the Borders, mix of speeds(speed cameras) over different types of roads, works out about 38 mpg, not bother since to check, but next time on long journey will.

LOL, no i have been driving to work and back with a heavy foot recently, time to try and get a bit more mpg.

best i've had is 550 from a full tank before the fuel light came on, some of that was cruising at 80 too.

I have brimmed it tonight, i'll let you know but i'm going to keep it at 65 and see how far i get going to work and back next week

AT 50 MPH as you can see from my post it did silly mpg, but the strange thing is at 60 mph it drops like a stone to 53 .8 mpg on a very long Mway run. ,, top tip,, keep the redex going in
