Question changing the front passenger door

I have a replacement front passenger door to fit to the wife's vec. It has come with out the glass so I will have to swap that over along with the rest of the bits..

Does anybody have any tips on what i need to do to make life easier when doing this job?

Do you not just have to undo the small torx screw and lift the door off the hinges?

removing it will not be an issue, its all in the Haynes manual. I take it I can leave the lock but just swap the door modules and switches etc along with the glass. I was just wondering if their was any tricks to make the glass and motor swap easier..

Seems i need to go and buy some pop rivets and a hand rivet gun or whatever they call them..

Shame you're not closer Nige, I've got a rivet gun and rivets here you could have used. They're about £20 or something for a set in Halfords.

well that job is done and all is working fine..

Now tips i can leave for the next guy that the Haynes manual does not mention. Whilst two men is useful i changed the door over on my own, a helper would have been useful but i am quite a strong chap and had no problems.

Get yourself a Haynes manual before you do this...

You will need a rivet gun and some 4mm rivets (about 10 will do). The Halfrauds £14.99 kit with its selection of rivets will do this for you. You only need this if you are moving the electric window mechanism from the door.

When you have take the interior panel off connect up the window switch again as you will need to lower the window a little to get to a retaining screw on the glass runner.

After changing the door you do not need to change the locks over (unless you are changing the drivers door) but you will need to change your door module over. Do not close the door until you have tested the new locks on your module by pressing your door lock button on the key fob or the master control on the drivers door first.

Just ask if you have any questions...
