Default Catch Tank Clean As A Whistle?

Sorry to make yet ANOTHER thread on the Oil Catch Tank, but I fitted my catch tank a few days ago, and the pipes are spotless, done about 100miles, thought there would be at least a haze of oil inside the pipes,

Have I put it in right?

Got it going in for Cambelt wednesday and don't want the garage thinking I'm a wolly if I've put it in wrong?

Mine follows that pattern but vents to atmos and I have a patch of oil on the garage floor under the filter I fitted so mine is defo passing oil mist. I have covered around 14,000 miles though

it could be that the flow of air is just carrying the oil through as normal when i do mine i was gonna try putting some oil in the bottom to help grab/condense the oil mist, not sure if it will work but might be worth a try

In my two Vectra's the pipework was coated with wet oil residue prior to my pipework modifications, cannot comment on others and would go so far as to say if my cyclone did work as it ought I would never have made the modification.

The pipe that I cut into that comes out of the oil seperator was coated in oil on the inside of the pipe, might just re-route it to atmos as I was also thinking the same as Penfold said, feels like a wasted job!

Is the tank set higher than the breather pipe? If its set higher then the condensation and vapour isn't going to make it to the tank. The tank needs to be set as low as possible.

if it's high it condenses in the pipe and runs back.
