THere's loads out there Damian, it's just a case of finding one that suits your requirements. I've been looking for the very same recently, and came across a number of packages (just did 'family tree software' search in Google). Just couldn't work out which one was right as I don't think any of them offered 30 day trials or whatever - so I left it for the moment. May have the will to try again another time! lol

Would be interesting to hear if anyone is using a package and what they think of it.

i use the generations family tree starter kit. its very easy to use and set up. each person you add gets an id card with all theyre info you input, D of B, death, marriage, any notes, you can add video, still pics or just voice recordings. it is so easy to use and gives you the choice of differentstyles of graphs although i got my tree back to the 1700's on my mams side and the tree line turned out when printed to be about 20 a4 sheets that i had to stick together, mind they did have big families and lots of kids. i paid about £20 for the package and it also comes with old maps of the uk and 9 discs of surnames and place names to help with your investigations.
good luck with your tree, i can become expensive aswell as addictive!!

Family Tree Maker 2006 is pretty good, with this you get included another progam called "Charting Companions" - which works directly with the FTW files created by FTM.

You can Make an "All-in-one" printout and export it to PDF format.

Then take this file to any printing services company, Kall-Kwik, The Colour Co. etc etc and get them to print it off on A1 or A0.
