Im currently on the lookout for a 2004-2005 Vectra C 1.9 cdti Sri or something along that line of spec.Mileage wise i dont really want anything above 110,000 without a FSH or at least some sort of history for the last 2-3 years just so i know its been looked after and still has a good few years left in it.
My budget is £3,000 max and i think that for that budget i should be able to get the car i want.....please let me know if im asking too much
Here is where my problems start,I dont currently own a car but do have access to a family members car but very limited access.I have been searching daily on Autorader and Ebay for possable cars but i cant find anything i would be happy buying within a resonable distance of where i live. All the cars ive seen are between 80-90 miles away and due to my limited transport its not possable for me just to go and have a look.If i was to travel all that way it would have to be to hand over the money and buy it.Now this is something i would not be happy doing at all but its getting to the stage where im going to start eating into my budget as i have my own family and we need transport and the cost of taxi's and giving friends and family petrol money is getting expensive.
My second problem is people selling their cars at cambelt due time(90-100k) now before anybody says anithing i know(thanks to this forum) that Vauxhall actually lowered the cambelt change intervals due to water pumps failing so infact 80k is cambelt change time.
Last week i sent 9 emails and made 7 phone calls to sellers who's cars i was interested in.None of them stated in their descriptions if the cambelt had been changed so i had to find out by contacting them. All but 1 seller had no idea about the change in cambelt intervals and 4 of them basicly said i was telling lies and that should look elsewhere if i wanst happy....They were all traders by the way! Not 1 of the sellers would drop the price to help out towards the cost of the cambelt change even though technicly the cars were on average 15k overdue.
Another thing ive come accross while on the search for a Vectra and that is a few of them(which included 2 that i had my heart set on) had very bad wear in the drivers footwell to the extent of having little or no carpet left at all.I know this could just be down to the prevour owner(s) not have floor mats and wet shoes but i had a simalar probelm on my last car and it was due to leaking door seals..is this a common/know probel on the vectra C's?....there is currently a couple of Autotrader with sorry looking drivers footwells at the moment
Can anybody reccommend somewhere that i may get the car of my dreams without being stitched up or taken advantage
