    Default mcgard locking whell bolts...crap!

    hey fellas just want to see if any of use have had problems with mcgard locking bolts? iv had the set on my car for about 2 months, the key is totaly ****ed, iv managed to get 2 bolts off, the other 2 are solid, the tools @ work designed to remove lock bolts arent even working, im going to order another key from germany costing 18 euros, anyone had to do this before?

    i've had two sets of mcguard locking nuts break now, they're useless in my opinion. i've gone back to vauxhalls own ... fingers crossed these last

    I use McGards, mine are fine. Did you not keep the number for getting a new nut, sure they are only £12. I torque mine on to 110lb too.

    id llike to stay vauxhall but iv got td pro race 1.2s on & vx lock bolts dont fit!!! iv searched the web a couple vw boys had the same prob they got a new key in a couple days so ill get mine orderd hopfully will be sorted!

    yes the garage used air tools on mine and knackered them

    Thats the problem, its not the nuts its the way idiots do them up.

    I have had three mc gard keys the first was knackered by the local tyre shop guy who overtightened them .
    I then ordered two new ones from germany for thirty euro,s , soon after these arrived i was using one of them and the centre black key fell out on its own accord so much for german engineering .
    I pinged the lip and hammered it back in and so far its held out but i am certainly glad i have a spare.
    Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
    and still loving it

    when i need tyres i remove the lockinh nuts myself and replace them myself,

    if i have a problem with them its down to me,but atleast i know some trigger happy buzz gun buddy hasnt had a go at them.

    mcgard has been great, they sent me hardend steel keys but by then i got them off, so they have sent me black edition lock set to match my black wheels free of charge!!!

    Some fitters seem to think the nuts are never supposed to come off once they are on.
    My mate's vectra had them put on so tight and weren't shifting, so much so that i was able to stand on the tip of my 18" breakers bar, and they didn't even creak. His alloy key was worn and mis-shapen, from putting the locking nuts on so tight. Luckily they can of with a gun.
