Unhappy Noise when driving over speed bumps

Last night on my way home from work I hit a speed bump at about 10-15mph at the end of my street and there was a loud bang from the front end. Since then when driving over speed bumps or pot holes there is a weird clunking sound. Best way to describe it is like a toilet plunger sound?!

Not jacked it up yet but has anyone got any ideas?

    Please help!!!

The car is a 1.8 SRI

sounds to me like you have just snapped a spring, you should check it asap though as it part of it could now be rubbing against your tyre as well..

What would be a reasonable price for springs or a drop link shot?

I had a spring snap when I was standing next to my car; it went off like a gun……Bang. Sometimes the bit that snapped off can still be rattling around where the spring is supposed to be seated. Then the spring itself will be grinding metal against metal when going over bumps.

Depends on whether or not you want to lower the car as well . vx charge around £60 quid for a set of standard springs front or back . where as a set of eibach for all four wheels will come in at around £140-150 drop links front from vx around about £20 uprated saab drop links i believe are around about £35-40 Arb bushes £4 or so each
