    Default Z22YH Fuel Pressure Regulator

    Hi All

in an effort to try and find out what was causing my lumpy idle, I disconnected the EGR valve, no difference, the disconnected the MAF, still no difference.

I then convinced myself I could hear ticking from the engine and my chain had slipped and i need a new timing chain... ok maybe a bit extreme with only 27K on the clock.

Anyway under further listening by me an a proper mechanic, we believe the ticking is coming from the FPR this is supported by the fact that the hose connecting it back to the fuel pump pulsates quite strongly.

Is this meant to happen? This is apparently a new FPR fitted by VX 3 months ago, but I do believe it caused my Siemens fuel pump to fail and I do not want it to do the same with my nice new 2 week old Continental one

Worked on a few z22yh's, never seen that before. Does the pulse match up with the misfire?

    HI Spenny

    thanks for the replay

    Just to clarify:

Did you take your car to VX beacuse you could hear a ticking noise?

Did your car have a rough idle?

Did VX say the ticking sound was the FPR and it was normal operation?

    Thanks
    Paul.

    Hello Mate,

I took it as i thought there was a rattle comming from the chain, i took it to Nationwide(Halfords) first, they said no issues, i then took it to Vx, as i wanted a second opinion, They checked it over and did advise me that the noise i could hear was coming from the FPR, and this was normal operation

I have the receipt somewhere mate i will stick it up and show you once i find it

    Thanks spennny

could you feel the fuel return pipe pulsating?

I am now assuming that the fuel pressure is not steady and although not casuing a misfire, is at idle starving the engine of fuel?

or maybe I need to take the throttle body off again? Maybe I just need to get my ass in gear and get the intake manifold off and lean it properly? maybe the fuel filter needs changed? maybe the cat? maybe the chain? maybe a sensor lol
