    Angry Rip Off!

I have my insurance through Flux Direct and got quite a good deal back in March of £350 for fully comp on my 2.2DTI Elegance (52). It was a shock though as my Laguna II 2.2DCI on a 53 plate was only £240 fully comp with me and the 7 year younger wife a year before.

Iíve just moved house to a much better area and safer too. I rang today to get the policy updated and was told the policy had been regarded and would be a further £100 and £45 admin fee. I nearly died what an absolute con. After a brief silence I was told they would waive the £100 policy increase but I would still need to pay the admin fee. Well I had no choice as I must have insurance.

Insurance is just one big con and itís gone up 33% in the past year and now they are saying itís going to go up by the same again this time next year. Iím so angry about this and fail to understand just how they can justify the cost and why the government are not looking into the stupid hike in costs. There must be a new e-petition for car insurance ready to do the rounds.

Minor rant over, but thanks Flux for waiving the extra charges.

All area are different I know how you feel. It goes on risk. If I insure my car at my dads address its £120 cheaper. You must have moved to a high risk area. Put some locking wheel nut on you car.

Think yourself lucky!.. I'm in a very low risk area, squeaky clean, no acc or conv - both me and my partner are 40 years old and for my 1.9CDTI Adrian Flux wanted nearly £700!!!!

    I employ a 24 year old with a heavily modified Corrado VR6 - he pays £520!!!!

My insurance tried it on when I went from a 3.0H6 Subaru (245bhp) to a diesel hatchback! Wanted £100 as it was a new car to me!!!!! i asked them to explain how a diesel low power hatch can be more expensive than a "performance" estate, they couldn't so dropped the extra but I too had to pay the admin fee. That was AF too.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Call me cynical here, but I really really do believe that THE only reason its gone up, is because of the advent of ANPR. The reason being, the insurance companys know that nowadays you must have insurance or risk having your car taken from you, so you have no choice but to pay the prices they dictate.

This twaddle about it going to cover uninsured drivers etc..... rubbish, there's less about now than there's always been. Its just yet another case of rip off britain

Im quite sure if they "regraded" your insurance and it turned out to be cheaper they wouldn't be on the phone to offer a refund. And anyway how can they regrade your policy half way through? LoL at the admin fee though, £45 for what? Changing the postcode on your policy, joke. And dont give the "oh but we need to send you out new documents" mularkey, no you don't, just email me them.
Just renewed the wife's car insurance and Budget charged me £38 for cancelling the renewal before it had even started........... Figure that one out, even got a letter stating it had been cancelled a day after it was due to start even though it was cancelled the day before the old one ran out. Got our money back though, thank goodness they record all phone calls these days. There must be some amount of mugs out there that just accept these things.

    Ok your cynical, lol.

I say its cause they are greedy b'stards tbh and they know that you have no choice. I read that 1 in 10 drivers on UK roads still dont have insurance so im not sure about the ANPR thing tbh. When was the last time you saw a Traffic car? I travel Scotland's busiest Motorway on a daily basis and I could not tell you the last time I saw a traffic car on it. I once spoke to a Traffic officer at my laddies Saturday football game and he was going on duty that afternoon, they would be the only traffic unit on to cover the whole of West Lothian.
If you want to blame anyone its these prats that deliberately cause accidents then claim injury off your insurance because they have 24 witness' who say it was your fault.
Personally I like the Australian way where you pay it at the post office and everyone pays the same, now there's a novel idea. We used to have the same idea with car tax till the government tried to fix something that wasn't even broken.

It should be personally based and not paid to cover others.
Same as everything else the government touches - you end up paying for folk you don't know.
