    Default RetroFit Auto Headlight Switch

    Hi Guys

Can anyone advise what's involved in retro fitting auto headlight switch to a half-can, pre-face hatchback (1.8LS).

Seen post on here saying it can't be done, but then also seen posts saying it can, but that you need to add light sensor and extra bits to the loom.

I was wondering if anyone could advise exactly what is required and also give a basic "How To" . . .

I've already got the auto light switch and I've got the sensor above the interior mirror for my auto wipers and I thought that this also had the light sensor in it . . (looks like a small dot). . .

Any advice would be gratefully received . .

Sure you cant just add the auto headlights feature to half can cars, well you can but that also means retrofitting a REC from a full can car, a full can roof loom and full can autowiper/lights sensor too. Kenp will be along soon to keep us right on this.

you would also need new BCM...

As it was not a option until 2005.. but if you are willing to do all bits that need chaning be my guest.. actually think it would be easier to put in the "Valeo auto light system".. dont know how that would be to integrate.. but probaly alot cheaper.

Even cheaper method is just to run with them on all the time, its what I do.

Yes could have them come on with the ignition (via Tech 2 / Op-com) . . .

But that's not really the same as auto lights is it !! . .

Might have to look into the Valeo Auto Lights option. .

Well no its not the same.. to the normal as DRL, you would still have to turn the lightswitch to be able to use the highbeam ect.
