    Default companys give no thanks for returning to work.

    If you have 1 day off sick they look at it the same as having 3-5 days off sick, as its still one occasion of sickness weather it be one day or 5 days!! You will still get treat the same, basically without getting a desiplinary your allowed upto 3 separate sickness occasions per year agen weather that be 3 x 1 days or 3 x 5 days. Now im not usually off work sick but, doesnt this way of working just promote people to be off longer? Ie. Even if your sickness goes after 2 days why rush back in?? Are your firms the same? Do you rush back in?? I tend to feel guilty for been off and go in only half right but im thinking now, let my man flu pass, everybody else does!

    Our company is the same, we work 4 on 4 off so we bormally take all 4 off ;0)

    No rules at our place.i can count on one hand my sickness over the last 5 years.yet some people are off for a day or two every other week.and nothing gets done about it.

    We don't get paid sick so if I'm not well I either have to take it as holiday or miss a days pay.

    no problems here (but I am the boss!!)... but I used to work at Kimberly Clark on contract, and if their staff are off ill 3 times in a 12 month period, they are sent for counselling!!!

    I WILL STATE THOUGH!! ... work for yourself and then see how often you are off sick!!... worst offenders are Local Government Officers. I am aghast at how often the planners are off sick, it seems they have a rota timetable for it.

    Our place uses the bradford factor, get more than X points and you get a rollocking! ****** waste of time if you ask me!
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    But yes I had a day off sick once and went onto the same "stage" of warning as a lad who was off for six months after a heart attack! I mean WTF!

    People at our place just play the system and it pee's me right off. They'll get twice as much time off a year as me and you're no better thought of for being honest. If you're off once you lose your bonus so many people just take two or three blocks off a year paid on the sick as a form of revenge!

    It's laughable and a personal pet hate of mine.

    Civil service exactly the same. No point in taking 1 day as your punished the same for taking 7.

    haha the good old Bradford Formula, number of days off sick multiplied by the amount of times off sick, then multiply each score by the following amount of periods of sick, lol, you can end up with thousands of points. And no points dont make prizes, lol.

    In our place if someone goes off sick it's usually for 6 months as it's 6 months full sick pay, and as you state it's only treated as 1 occasion
