    Default Recall not done...?

    Hi,

I have just had a new fuel pressure reg fitted to my 56 plate 2.2 direct at a Vx dealer as it was faulty.

I knew there has been a recall on this model for the FPR and enquired if mine had been done. They said there was no outstanding recalls and that the FPR replacement was done March 2010 (before I bought the car)

However the dealer is certain that this was not done, as the FPR that was removed looked old and had a 2008 date stamp on it.

He was unable to do the job under the conditions of the recall as it was showing on the system as already been completed.

So I went ahead with the chargeable repair and paid for the work (£250) but was wondering if it was worth pursuing the matter with Vx on the basis that the recall was never done..?

And if it is what department would I contact..?

    Cheers,
    Ant.

    Yes, complain direct to Vauxhall
Also ask for the removed part back from the garage, as you can supply this as evidence
Equally, ask the garage to provide a statement as to the condition / report of the part removed

Not sure How your going to argue that your car was made/registered in 2006 ...and your saying that the part removed was dated 2008.... Therefore the part HAD to be newer than your car ... Could have been that the part fitted at the recall was an older manufactured part/ held in stock but it's still newer than your car so therefore blows your theory out of the water that no part was replaced

    Seems very common with GM.

I actually called up Holden last week and enquired about the handbrake and mentioned I the exhaust recall. The car, which has been serviced by their servicing department, hadn't received either recall upgrade. I asked them why it hadn't been performed and all they said was it was a non-essential recall, and only owners who enquired would receive it...
Is it just me, or does a failing handbrake not constitute an essential recall service that everyone should be notified about?
