This meet started for us on Friday with a 3 hour drive up through the middle of Wales on the A470 and A483, fantastic roads making a cracking drive. Unfortunately Kay was a bit under the weather with an upset tummy and headache, but bless her she soldiered on. Arrived at the Wild Pheasant Hotel, Llangollen around half six, lovely place, easy to find (even for my Pratt Nav ).
The hotel and Plasma arriving:
A few drinks were had in the bar with me, Kay, Plasma, Mark, Cara, Nick, Claire and Kieran, before we headed off to dinner. Great food, even if it was a little slow coming out and the Trout that was ordered looked suspiciously like Salmon! Tony and Eira arrived whilst we were eating but we joined them in the bar as soon as we could. Kay wandered off for a bath to recover a bit from the day, catch up on some Uni reading and get some sleep.
Meanwhile we all had a good natter in the bar whilst consuming several pints of lager.
First thing in the morning, well second actually, breakfast was first lol, we all convoyed down to Tony's house for some car cleaning. My Pratt Nav decided we really wanted to take the scenic route and merrily took us half way round north wales before we evetually arrived at Tony's where all the cars were duly cleaned:
After a cup of tea, Friday finally caught up with Kay and she grabbed a few ZZZZ's:
Next it was off to the Ponderosa Cafe, via the Horseshoe Pass, a stunning drive that we've done a few times on the way to Ruthin Castle. The weather was cold and windy at this point but the cloud base wasn't too low and the rain was holding off, so there were some good views to be had on the drive up.
Arrived at the Ponderosa to find a few there waiting for us and a couple more joined us just after, in total I think we had 10 cars and about 16.5 people, not bad for a cold, windy October meet. Met a few new faces for me, Boris and Razor and bumped into some 'old' friends in Spoons and Diana, Ukanalyst, Mrs Dave and Andyvec (apologies if I missed anyone).
Had a few photos before we went for some lunch and a bit of shopping:
I made the mistake of saying something like "good job the rain held off" prompting the heavens to open just as we were about to go back outside.
We drove about 1/2 a mile back down the pass to a lay-by where we took a few more photos and Tony had the 'Sheep Poo Incident'
Then it was a lovely drive down through the pass with the sun trying to break through, back to the hotel. Several test drives were next on the card and I got to take Plasma's baby out for a damn good thrashing I've seen the light and it's on the dark side
Tea, coffee and some goodbyes back in the bar. Nice 3 hour drive back and a wrestling match with the computers to get the photos up followed lol.
Thank you SO much to everyone for coming along, it's been a great weekend with some fantastic mates and look forward to doing it all over again soon
