    Default 1.8 vvt

Is there an ECU/software update that anyone knows of that might sort out the hesitation/overreving I get on my 2006 1.8 VVT in 1st/2nd gear?

I find it really tricky in traffic to 'crawl' by holding the revs at 1100 or so (like when you're moving up a hill and balancing the car on the clutch and throttle) it seems to either drop down to 500 rpm or go up to 1500rpm with a microscopic movement on the throttle pedal!

My wifes got a 1.2 Polo and thats a joy in the traffic compared to this as you can easily 'hold' the car on the clutch. I don't mean riding the clutch just getting a nice smooth pull away!

Its probably the only thing that bugs me about the car at the moment and it seems like it should be easy to fix! I tried the airbox mod and if anything I think it made it worse. Air filters is lovely and clean as well!

I get this on mine as well. The only thing on the car that I don't like.

Vehicle : Vectra C Hatchback Facelift

    Trim : Club

    Engine : Z18XE

    Year : 2005

    Mileage : 100085

    Default

Our pre VVT Facelift Z18XE club has had similar symptoms since we bought it 5 years ago with < 4k miles on the clock which described in this thread...& which seems to have no permanent cure....Note my comments towards the end of the thread about the dealers response 'Blank Looks' when I described the symptoms....

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62965..

....which got very little response at the time from the forum.

Advise at best seemed to be ' Try this, That or the Other ' at a few tens of pounds a time...which didn't seem to offer a permanent cure.

I've got used to it with this engine but my wife comments about it almost every time we go out in it....

    However...........

A thread on here a while back & comments in it by vxr-jim about the 1.8VVT Z18XER may be of interest...

    Cheers

    Cheers for that.

I had a read through that - even the ECU update doesn't seem to make that much difference from the comments!

Looks like you can minimise it a bit with a better filter, updated software and thats about it - just a characteristic of the car I suppose. Wonder if its the same in the 1.8 VVT Astras?
