    Default datailing advise please

Im new to the world of detailing so much so that i have never done it before and i need some help and advice.

I think im going to get a megs G220 v2 unless there is something better and i need to know the following

    what pads i will need?
do i need to clay the car first or can you do that by machine too?
what polishes i need for metro blue vectra?

I also want to do the missus black golf so should i buy separate pads for hers?
the gold is heavily stone chipped so whats the best way to sort or cover up as best as possible, will i need to use a cutting pad first?

and any other tips and advice/makes/ places to get deals on products etc

    Many thanks
    Nathan

    Hi Nathan ,
although the g220 v2 is very good its still pricy for what it is , you can get a Das 6 v2 for a just a little more than half the price
For pads you would need a basic set of three a cutting , polishing ,and finishing pads manufacture,s i would look at would be either 3M or Hex logic .
All cars will benefit from a claying , this is best applied by hand .
Some clays can be just used with water like the bilthammer brand or with a detailing spray or clay lube like the mequiars or autoglym brands
As for polishes with a dark car , most modern polishes these days are suitable for all colours .
The difference between the vectra ,s paint and the golfs is the vec has a soft to medium hardness where as the golf like all vag group cars is on the hard side .
for more tips and info join the www.detailingworlld.co.uk web site here you will find a world of information on detailing plus as well membership on here brings you discount on some of the detailing retailers .

There are four basic polishers ,the mequiars g220 and its updated version the v2, and the das 6 with its update the das 6 pro . generally anything else you see is one of the others rebranded .
Apart from the rotor polishers which are a totally different ball game .
The link i enclosed in my previous post would give you das6 with one of the recommended brands of pads and a set of cutting and polishing liquids
