    Default Headlights point to high

I've had my 03 plate Vectra LS for two years it had passed it's MOT no problem but this time it has failed because the headlights are pointing up to much, the mechanic told me the headlights were held in position not by the metal holders but by the rubber caps, I got the clips that hold the bulb in position fitted them and it still failed.

The mechanic reckons who ever had the car before me had fitted xenon bulbs didn't do it right and has put the headlights out of their correct position, the headlights don't move when I use the button on the dash that moves the headlights up or down, the is about a 1/4 of an inch play in both the headlights when I hold the bulb holders.

My motors became disconnected and lights were too high. Here's a picture of the ball and socket connection, the motors are a baynonet fit. HTH

Don't forget you can adjust the headlight aim with a 5mm Allen key on the headlight units themselves. But it does sound like the motors aren't doing their job in your case.

Normally those of us with pre-facelifts complain our headlight aim is too low, even on the highest setting!
