Thumbs up Vectra gone!!! : Bought a new car.....

First of all, before I bleat on about my new purchase I just wanted to thank every single one of you guys here at Vec-C. One of the best online owners communities I have had the pleasure of being a member of.

My Vec-C 3.0 V6 CDTi SRi was one of the best cars I've ever owned and I will honestly say I almost had a tear in my eye as I drove away from the garage forecourt in my new car and glanced back at the Veccy sat in their parking area.

So here's to you guys at Vec-C, many, many thanks for all the assistance over the years. I'm not going to vanish completely and will look back in here every once in a while to see what's what.

Been thinking of getting a new car for a few months now. Was looking at an older 2006-2007 BMW X5 or a Merc ML but decided to go for a newer motor. The Vectra was traded in for this, I've had it for about two weeks now.

Peugeot 4007 2.2 HDi SE. Nearly new with delivery mileage. Factory specced with the Irmscher RC Line Sports pack and 19" alloy wheels. It has three drive modes, 2WD for normal everyday driving in dry road conditions, Intelligent 4WD which decides what wheels need the power sent to them and a fulltime 4WD diff lock for a 50/50 split of power front to rear.

On paper at least, it's slightly down on power and performance compared to the Vec but it doesn't feel like it. If anything it feels brisker than it's performance figures would suggest. It has more torque than my 3.0 V6 had and at lower revs than it did so overtaking and roll-on acceleration is actually quite amazing. The PSA 2.2 HDi turbo diesel engines are renowed for their performance and reliability so it's well proven. The ride is firm but soaks up the bumps brilliantly and in "Intelligent 4WD" mode it handles like a saloon and not a high riding off roader. Which brings me on to off road and bad weather performance. It's supposed to be very good in this department, many YouTube vids testify to that.

The platform is based on the Mitsubishi Outlander, indeed the Outlander, Peugeot 4007 and Citreon C-Crosser are all built in the same Mitsubishi factory in the Netherlands. Peugeot and Citreon then graft on the front their own identity but essentially underneath, it's a Mitsubishi Outlander.

There is literally tons of room inside which is great for all the stuff you need to cart around with you when you are parents of a 6 month old. The boot is huge and the rear seats fold electronically and slide and tilt into different configurations. There are two seats hidden in the boot floor which turn it into a 7 seater.

Only two weeks into ownership but this car so far has to be the best vehicle I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to the snow this year to try it out.

Anyway, pics taken yesterday in the drill yard at work :-

Pic of the Vectra about 3 hours before I traded it in.

I know most folk don't bother to do so but I valeted it from top to bottom before I took it for it's last drive. Looked fantastic. They gave me £2500 as a trade in which was about right going by Parkers as a trade in value. Salesman at the garage said it would go straight to auction because of its age but they were so impressed with it's condition they now have it sat on their forecourt at £3700. Cheeky beggars!!!.

It's a "Marmite" car m8, each to his own. The pics don't do it justice.
