Default Heads-up V6 CDTI split hose location

Found this split on the rigid pipe that feeds air to the throttle body

Ordered replacement part from VX - £70 inc VAT.

Strangely it has not thrown any codes... just noticed it down on power a bit and hissing

Thanks for the pic. Can you just say where that is in the engine bay, is that taken from underneath? Many thanks.

Hopefully the second pic link works - it gives a clearer idea than the close-up. It's the rigid pipe that goes to the throttle body right at the top of the engine. You need to take the engine cover off to see it. The split is just visible if you look just down fron the jubilee clip and is in the rigid plastic pipe itself.

Very hard to spot if you did not know what to look for, but I used the engine cover (jammed in the drivers footwell) to hold the revs at 1500 and nipped round to the engine to have a look. Could hear the hissing and only spotted the leak when I felt the air with my hand

The part has to come from Opel - stealers had not heard of one going in that place before. Just a useful mental note to have as a 'location of possible failure' when looking for splits in the system

Another point to note is to check the actual union between the rigid pipe and the throttle body - mine came loose and was losing boost under high boost conditions: the joint looked normal until I wiggled it! I tightened the jubilee clip and all fine... but I suspect there is quite a bit of vibration in this joint area which firstly: caused the joint to work loose and secondly: with the joint tightened up, caused the split.

I will have to keep an eye on the new part when it arrives: if it fails again, a 'home brew' alternative will have to be found - PITA, as there is a sensor in that rigid pipe!
