    Default No codes being displayed - Spanner light

    Hi,

    I have 2.2 direct (56 plate) Vectra Sri and had the high pressure fuel pump replaced bout 1000 ago because it would not rev properly. After the pump it's been fine until now;

    What now happens is the car will start and drive fine for a while, but intermittently (usually once a day) it will cut out during driving and stop. If try to start it again it will not start, the engine turns over but will not start at all.

    After about 1 min try again and it will start again, but with the Spanner light on. Sometimes it drives fine for the rest of the journey, and sometimes it runs lumpy and does not rev properly but does drive.

    After the journey and it's left for a while the car starts normally again and the cycle starts again.

    I have a cheap ODBC code reader which only shows mis fires on different cylinders (which I presume is due to when its been running lumpy and the engine warning light has been on)

    My question is should the spanner light have some codes attached to it too? and is it that my cheap reader does not show them..? It looks like the spanner light is associated with the car stopping issue and that the engine light is associated with the 'lumpy' running that I sometimes see afterwards.

    Any advice appreciated
    Ant.

    It's probably that your reader can't read the codes mate.

    Might be worth getting read properly.

    hi mate...
    i am fairly new to all this to.but i do believe that when you have your spanner light up if you press you clutch and brake pedals all the way to the floor, this light will begin to flash..10 quick successions for a 0 two flashes for a 2etc with about a 2 scond wait inbetween..this is teh secret way of reading faul codes...if you type it inte search area of this forum you might find a better expaination..i have and auto and not sure if it would work or how with mine..

    Ah rubbish!!

    I have a reader that tells me the engine light code faults, but I assume there is some more codes that can be read associated with the spanner light...

    Do you work for Duerdens?

    I have one that reads all codes. But for what it would cost in fuel there and back would be penny's difference for a garage to check

    Well i paid £70 to read the codes at the stealers so think would've been better off with yours!

    Anyway they said it was fuel pressure reg which they did for £250 (including the diagnostics) so hopefully its sorted.
