As above your local dealer parts dept will need to order you a new car pass and key then program it to your car.

A new key or just the blade can be cut from the code but, as above, you'll need the key code from the carpass. You'll need to take the v5 document and id with your address (driving licence) to the dealers for the carpass, which usually costs around £20 and takes around 3-7 days, but they may give you the key code sooner if you explain your situation.
If your fob still works you can get the key blade alone.

    Great thanks for info...
im guessing getting the keycode ordered is a lot cheaper than having someone round to take out barrel and create a key from that.
Yes the fob works ok a bit worn but all works im pleased with that as i know they cost a fortune.

Not sure but I wouldn't have thought so. Can you claim of the recovery people for the damage?

I don't think the vec has a key with the chip in the blade. On my old-style-pre-facelift key there used to be a separate chip in the fob case (small black plastic rectangle), but that was replaced by one built into the circuit board when the key was reprogrammed. The newer style flip keys also have the chip built into the circuit board iirc.

It seems on my stile key there is a plastic arch at top of blade that holds the immobiliser and that part clips into the fob but this type is discontinued i wander why.......maybe cause they fall apart
