    Default Wheel/ Tyre Limitations

I've just bought and fitted some 18's from a guy on Ebay. They were originally on a Vec B GSI. They looked a little flat on the fronts so i pumped them up to 38 psi. Still they looked a little flat. I had a look on the tyre and the wall read. Max 49psi, Max load 635kg.
I inflated them to 45psi and they looked a bit better. But how am i doing on the 'Max load' front?

Hi BW,the V6 with 225/45-18 should run with 2.6 bar pressure front,2.4 bar rear, low profiles allways look a bit flat,The maximum 49psi is for different applications on different vehicles,as is the maximum load, running with 45 psi is too much you will get a hard ride and could damage the suspension on rough roads, the handling will allso be affected

    V6 CDTI
What is the complete specification of the tyre?
    They should be 225 45 R18

Personally I would only use at least 91W

On the V6 CDTI with 18" tyres you want the following tyre pressure :
    Front 38
    Rear 35

I agree though, the front tyres always look underinflated on this car, and others I have seen with the 3.0 V6 CDTI

Don't know until you provide the tyre specification

    225 45 R18 tyres could be 91V
Again, this would be acceptable but I personally would NOT use them
    There is also the 225/45ZR18

Equally, you may need to contact your insurer to find out what minimum they will accept
My records show this to be 91H but that is on the EU Conformity Certification of 215/55R16 tyres only

My car came with 215/50R17 95W XL
Officially only the 3.0 V6 CDTI automatic needs XL rated tyres, for the manual it is just a few kg below the limit and so I have retained XL tyres
Having performed a test on standard tyres where a catastrophic failure occurs, it was scary compared to the XL (although that too was a challenge), driving on three tyres in 0.8mm of standing water at 65mph

Therefore, as above, please post the full specification so that full advice can be provided
